Would You Line Up for Paula Deen??

by SP on September 2nd, 2007

It seems that a lot of people are willing to do just that. I guess if you want a table at The Lady & Sons at 102 Congress St. in the historic district in Savannah, Georgia, you really don’t have any choice. But I want to hear from you. Have you lined up, (around the corner) from what I’m reading and I’m curious about the food. What did you think? Is it as good as what you see on TV??
I’ve watched Paula Deen on her cooking shows and I have to admit, the food does look awfully good… calories or no calories, and the prices that she charges at her restaurant are a bargain.

The all-you-can-eat luncheon buffet costs $12.99 for adults; $6.49 for children. Dinner buffet: $16.99 for adults; $8.59 kids. Other dinner entrees range from $18.99 (shrimp and grits) to $24.99 (steak and tomato pie); (912) 233-2600.

Unfortunately, I hear that the chances of spotting Paula Deen in her own restaurant is not likely. Hey, the woman is famous. But, her sons apparently will drop by to check things out… so if you are lucky, you just might spot Jamie or Bobby!

Now, I’m just going to sit back and wait for Paula to invite me to her house for an interview… and if she wants to feed me… that’s okay too. ;)

I ate at Paula’s place at the recommendation of a trolley driver in Savannah a couple of years before she became a TV celebrity. It was okay, but it was just home-style cooking–nothing special. My mom (and myself) were better cooks in my opinion. The stuff on her TV show looks a lot better than what is served in the restaurant (at least at that point in time).

LoL… I don’t think Lynn even had to think about that for a second.

To Lori ;) Okay, feel free to invite me to your or your Mom’s place for dinner. If you can put this woman in her place… you have to be a good cook. Me… not so much.

I’ve been there but I will never go again. Ever. The food is mediocre at best. But I do give them points for using fresh ingredients.

Tip #1: get there at 10:30am for lunch to ensure getting a table. At exactly 11am, two employees will walk directly across the street — one will yell that they are now open, and the other will bang a triangle — it’s a sight to see!

Yes, my family and I ate there Jan.20,2008. We thought it was fantastic. Food was very good. The place was clean and the wait staff was prompt and curtious. Yes, we would go again!
