Up North Southern Cooking
“The look at Memphis Mae’s BBQ Bistro is comfy and cool: wood, ochre-and-caramel walls, snug booths. There’s even a civilized place to wait for takeout: a bench (outside) or the bar area (inside) and fancy chairs. The food is also comfy and cool, with down-home cooking.
“We wanted first to bring Southern barbecue to Northern Westchester; it just hadn’t made it’s way up here,” says Jeff Matros, who owns the restaurant along with his wife, Karen Ferencz, and the chef Andreas Nowara. “But we also wanted to expand the concept to include Southern comfort food.”
So, it seems that Southern cooking is heading north and you can just bet that Britt is going to be happy about it. Have you noticed just how many restaurant reviews she sneaks into her weekly tours. I swear, I don’t know how she stays so slender!!
Is that cornbread that I see in that photo? As a matter of fact, that is exactly what I’m making at the moment. Doesn’t last long in our house.
