Undiscovered Travel Websites

by Katherine Lynch on August 20th, 2008

Who doesn’t love finding out about new websites that make traveling easier? Any website or contact that makes my life easier I will welcome wholeheartedly. Therefore I was excited to read that PC Magazine has published an article titled PC Magazine’s Top 100 Undiscovered Websites of 2008. They’ve been keeping me quite busy these past few days. Here’s a round up of the travel sites:

  • Happy Median:  How many times do you have to schedule a meeting and are stuck on where you should meet? This site allows you to enter up to 4 addresses, and it will find a meeting place in the center. Whether you want to find a restaurant, coffee shop, golf course or hotel, Happy Median should be your starting point.
  • EveryScape: This site takes you on a virtual tour of major cities. Whether you want to see hotels, the beach, or where you are staying in relation to everything else, this site will help you out. It also has links to flickr, yelp, YouTube and Wikipedia, and of course to the location that you are looking at.
  • InsideTrip brings multiple search engines into one. While many search engines only allow you to search by a few options, InsideTrip allows you to search by comfort level and quality of the trip including leg room on the airplanes, wait time between flights, lost bags rank, gate location, etc.
  • TripIt: Organizing your travel plans has never been easier. This site brings your flight schedule, hotel info, weather reports and directions into one master itinerary.
  • PC Magazine also recommends Farecast, but it hasn’t worked for me. Hopefully it will be working soon.

For a list of other undiscovered websites, visit PC Magazine to read the entire article. Other  categories they cover include: Apps and Services, Fun and Games, Health and Science, Info, Search, and Reference, Lifestyle, Money and Real Estate, Music, News, Photo, Shopping, Social Networking  and Technology. Needless to say, you’ll find something you like.
