The South in Bloom: Flower Trails, Garden Tours and More in Tennessee, South Carolina and North Carolina
The South is in full bloom for Spring. Here are just a few places that you can find the colors.
Exploring Tennessee…
- Bell Buckle’s Daffodil Day is scheduled for March 15. Events include a special tree planting ceremony and a daffodil show.
- Get ‘Wild’ about Wildflowers: Fall Creek Falls State Park is hosting their annual Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage during the first weekend in April . Enjoy hikes, driving tours and workshops about wildflowers. On the last Saturday in March and the first Saturday in April, Norris Dam State Park hosts a guided Spring Wildflower Hike. During the second and third weekend in April, Frozen Head State Park holds Wildflower Pilgrimages. April 23-27 are the dates for the Great Smoky Mountains National Park’s annual Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage. This five day event includes nature walks, seminars and art classes.
- Winchester’s 4th Annual Dogwood Festival is scheduled for April 11-13. This three-day festival features exhibits, entertainment and activities.
Visiting South Carolina…
- The Charleston Festival of Houses and Gardens on March 13 - April 12 features properties in the city’s historic district. Enjoy morning walking tours of homes and plantations. There is also lectures and other activities planned as well.
- Learn about camellias during a guided walking tour of the gardens in Middleton Place Plantation in Charleston on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays through the end of March.
- The Garden Club of Charleston is holding their 73rd Annual House and Garden Tours on March 28-29. The walking tour features anywhere from six to seven homes/gardens.
- April 3-5 is the town of Denmark’s Dogwood Festival. The events include entertainment and games.
- The Flowertown Festival in Summerville, April 4 - 7, features entertainment and an arts and crafts festival.
While in North Carolina…
- The 61st Annual Azalea Festival in Wilmington is scheduled for April 9-13. The five-day festival includes a parade, street festival and more.
