Still making the way through the South in search of some spring flowers. Here is what’s happening.
Exploring Kentucky…
- More Wildflowers: J.J. Audubon State Park is hosting a Wildflower Extravaganza on April 5. Join others at the Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary on a Wildflower Search April 6. April 17-20 is Wildflower Weekend at the Natural Bridge State Resort Park. Mammoth Cave National Park is also hosting a Wildflower Weekend on April 19-20. Bernheim Forest is hosting guided hikes April 26-27 to discover the many wildflowers that grow around there
- Join Paducah as the city celebrates the opening day of their lighter 12-mile Dogwood Trail on April 14.
Visiting Virginia…
- The 22nd Annual Daffodil Festival in Gloucester is scheduled for March 29-30. Events include a tour of Brent and Becky’s Bulbs as well as other activities.
- Referred to as the “Redbud Capital of the World,” Honaker hosts the annual Redbud Festival on April 18-20. The weekend’s events include nature walks and crafts show.
- The 18th Annual Leesburg Flower and Garden Festival is slated for April 19 and 20. Taking place in the downtown area, there will be entertainment, landscape displays and more for all ages.
- Norfolk’s 55th Annual International Azalea Trail is slated for April 14-19. Events include a parade and a regatta.
- The 81st Annual Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival will be April 25 - May 4 in Winchester. There are various events include tours, cook-offs and a carnival.
Stopping by West Virginia…
- Learn about the different types of wildflowers found along the Greenbrier River during the Show-Me-Hike at the Greenbrier State Forest on March 25-26.
