The South in Bloom: Flower Trails, Garden Tours and More in Alabama, Georgia and Florida

by Apryl on March 13th, 2008

Continuing across the South in search of blooms…

Visiting Alabama

  • View over 250,000 azaleas in bloom at Mobile’s Bellingrath Gardens during the Spring. Various varieties include ‘Southern Charm’ and ‘Pride of Mobile.’ Other flowers, such as Easter lilies and delphiniums are in bloom and on display throughout the gardens as well.

  • The town of Semmes will hold their annual Azalea Festival on April 5. The day-long event includes a number of events for all ages.

  • The Huntsville Botanical Garden will host a Spring Festival of Flowers April 29-30. Expect to see tulips, daffodils and more in full, colorful bloom.

While in Georgia

  • See Georgia’s spring colors, such as wildflowers and Dogwoods, during a half-day hike in Panola Mountain State Park on March 22.
