The Audubon Swamp Garden (South Carolina)

by SP on April 5th, 2006

waterbirdIt’s funny how I keep getting drawn to gardens, when I scarcely have any interest in my own. But then again I can’t have a swamp garden where I live and I kind of like the sound of this one. This particular one is located in Charleston, South Carolina and if I remember correctly this is a gorgeous city. I was especially taken with some of the gorgeous houses on the water. But back to the swamp!

You can only stay until dusk at this one for obvious reasons. I think that I would begator looking over my shoulder anyway. Who knows what lurks in a swamp garden. But I do like the idea of benches hidden away so that you can sit and watch life in such a garden.

I have been to the Audubon swamp many times. It is always fun and exciting. You need to keep an eye out for gators though, especially in the spring and summer. The last time I visited was about 2 weeks ago. My husband and I were stopped looking at a greenish rat snake when I gator came jumping out of the water about 2 feet from me, he was only trying to get a duck though.
