Borroums’s Drug Store… Mississippi’s oldest, established in 1865

“The history of the store begins as the war ends. Dr. Andrew Jackson (Jack) Borroum had just been released from a northern prison camp and Mustered out of the army at Atlanta, Georgia. Are you wondering about digital cameras??

Are you wondering about digital cameras??

For some reason, we have never gotten around to buying ourselves a good digital camera.
My husband has one for work and if we want to take a photo of something, we simply borrow that one. But you can’t very well take it on vacation and until now, that usually meant using a disposable and you know what that means. You either have too many shots left on the camera so you shoot and click everything just to use it up, or you run out too quickly and miss some great shots. A digital camera of our own will …read more

Thanksgiving not a Southern Holiday?

Thanksgiving not a Southern Holiday?

“Some friends with really old Virginia roots told me about this but I’ve had no luck with any research. They said older relatives refused to celebrate “that Yankee holiday” and would go hunting or do something else instead.
Lincoln proclaimed a national T’giving Day in 1863 and then Roosevelt in 1939 changed the date but his order wasn’t mandatory. It was scornfully referred to by some as “Franksgiving” and FDR wasn’t a Southern favorite anyway.”

Are you wondering about digital cameras??

My husband has one for work and if I want to take a photo of something, I simply borrow his. But you can imagine that there are times when that is simply not very convenient. Like yesterday… he was on a business trip and took the camera with him. Good thing that I didn’t want it. So, now I’m thinking that maybe I should go looking for one of my own. So, where do you start? What do you need to know?
I think this page will help. It certainly helped me! Just click on each of the photos for details.
