Let’s Go to the Mountains: Tigers, Lions and Kangaroos - Oh My! Wildlife in the Georgia Mountains

When you think about the South, what comes to your mind? Perhaps good food, humidity and football -at least those are a few things that come to my mind when someone asks about this region. It is doubtful that you think exotic animals when someone is talking about Georgia.
Oh, but the South is full […]

Let’s Go to the Mountains: Dahlonega, Ga. - Where It’s “Gold”en During the Holidays

Did you know that gold was discovered in Dahlonega, Ga.,  about 20 years before California’s boom? You can still pan for gold here during the Gold Rush Days, held typically on the third week in October. Maybe I’ll unearth some old pictures of me at 12-years-old feverishly panning away, hoping to strike a fortune, but walking away […]

Link of the Day - Fort Pulaski

For some reason, not all people like to shop during their vacation. Don’t ask me why… but it seems that some people would rather visit sites like this. Just kidding. Fort Pulaski looks as if it would be a great place to visit if you are in South Carolina. Actually, there is something for […]

Four charged in North Georgia moonshine case

If you thought that the manufacturing of moonshine was something from the distant past in the south, you would be wrong. Apparently it is still a popular pastime.

The Hay House - Georgia

Okay, this is the house that I want. No doubt about it!! There is just something about a staircase that looks like that and I can picture us sipping Mint Julips on the verandah. But, unfortunately, the house isn’t for sale. It was was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1974, so that […]
