Saving Money: Travel Deals in the South
- Don’t let the ever-rising gas prices prevent you from enjoying a long weekend at LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort in Naples, Fla. The property’s “Fuel for Fun” gas rebate package include a $100 gas credit for stays of three nights or more. However, you must act soon! The credit is good for stays before September 30.
- In the don’t-wait-book-now-category, Hilton Sandestin, located along the Beaches of South Walton in Florida’s Panhandle, is offering a “Midsummer Beach Breakaway” package good only for July 27-29. Stay for $199/night and receive a $50 hotel gift card that can be used anywhere on the property.
- Thinking about a long weekend in Williamsburg, Va.?Be sure to check out the “Funpack” package. Good through December 31, certain hotels are guaranteeing $2.99/gallon gas. Show you gas receipt at check-in and the difference between what you paid and $2.99/gallon will be deducted from the third night of your stay.

My sister just moved away from Fort Walton Beach. Otherwise, I might have looked into that Hilton Sandestin package. Not that I’d save gas money–I’m in Phoenix–but it would have given me an excuse to see my sister, especially now that US Airways flies straight into the airport there.

The Beaches of South Walton is my favorite of the Panhandle.
