- Congratulations to Kiawah Island (S.C.) Golf Resort for being recognized by Golf Inc. in their September 2008 issue as one of the world’s most environmentally sensitive golf resorts.
- And while we are talking about gold, a big congratulations to all of the Southern-based golf courses that made it on GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 Courses You Can Play 2008. Courses include Mississippi’s Dancing Rabbit Golf Club (Azalea), Florida’s TPC at Sawgrass (Stadium), North Carolina’s Pinehurst (No. 2), and Virginia’s The Homestead.

- Don’t forget that the Rockdale County (Ga.) Fair is going on until September 28. Happening at the Georgia International Horse Park, you can enjoy such great midway rides as the Expo Wheel and the Paratrooper.
- This is the weekend to be in Fredericksburg, Va. Not only is Oktoberfest happening (September 26 - 28), but also you can stomp grapes at Potomac Point Winery during the Harvest Festival on September 28, or enjoy the activities of fall at Belvedere Plantation’s Fall Festival that starts on September 27.
- Nantahala Outdoor Center in Bryson Center, N.C., is hosting Nantyfest/Guest Appreciation Festival on September 26-28. This is more than just an equipment sale - there’s activities, clinics, presentations and much more for everyone.
- Come one, come all to JIBE, Jekyll Island, Ga.’s annual kite buggy rally. Scheduled for September 26 - 28, the event takes place on “Kite Beach,” in front of Blackbeard’s Restaurant. Proceeds from this event benefit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center.
