From a birthday celebration to food and wine festivals, you’ll be able to find it happening in the South.
- If you enjoy wines, the South has a number of wine events going on. There’s the Greek Wine Fest 2008 on August 16 in Tarpon Springs, Fla. The Harvest Wine Trail (celebrating the harvest) in Fredericksburg, Texas on August 15 - 17 and then again on August 22-24. The Fiore 19th Annual Wine, Jazz and Art Festival in Pylesville, Md., is scheduled for August 16-17.
- The 80th Annual North Texas State Fair ends on August 23. Located in Denton, the event includes special shows, live entertainment and a carnival.
- There’ll be a day full of pickin’, grinnin’ and eatin’ at the 8th Annual Decatur (Ga.) BBQ, Blues and Bluegrass Festival. The event includes live entertainment by blues and bluegrass groups, and barbecue from OB’s.
- Happy 222nd Birthday Davy Crockett! Celebrate this milestone on August 17 at Crockett Tavern Museum in Morristown, Tenn. Enjoy of a day by touring the museum, watching demonstrations and eating a piece of birthday cake.
- Make plans to attend Atlanta, Ga.,’s German Bierfest scheduled for August 23. The event, held at Woodruff Park, features over 25 beers, German cuisine, live entertainment and much more.
- Attention all Floridians! During the month of September, Sarasota is offering a 2-for-1 pricing on a handful of the area’s popular attractions. Dubbed “30 Days of Discovery,” eight different museums, such as Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota Jungle Garden and Historic Spanish Point are included in this special.
