- July is National Ice Cream Month, so be sure to enjoy a scoop or two at your favorite ice cream shop.
If you traveling in the South anytime in July and have a craving, there’s Blue Bell in Brenham, Texas and Mayfield in Athens, Tenn. In Searcy, Ark., you’ll find Yarnells. Calabash, N.C. is home to Calabash Creamery. How can you pass up a place simply called Homemade Ice Cream and Pie Kitchen? It’s located in Louisville, Ky. In Florida, everyone know you have to stop in Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor & Restaurant in Dania. Even Marriott Harbor Beach in Ft. Lauderdale is celebrating with a Living Room Ice Creamery program that allows you to enjoy in-room ice cream service. If you want to skip the calories, but still indulge, there’s the Me! Bath Ice Cream pedicure available at The Spa at Harbor Beach.
- The Athens (Ga.) Welcome Center is offering a new downtown Athens Podtour. The 10 podtour series features such sites as the 40 Watt Club, Oconee Rivers Greenway and more. Each tour is narrated by a local expert and features local musicians.
As you know, Central Florida and golf go together hand in had. The Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills (about 45 minutes from Orlando) is offering a $99 “No Limit” Golf Promotion that includes overnight accommodations and unlimited same-day green fees, as well as all-day shared golf cart rentals and driving range privileges. Package is good through September 30.
