Mississippi Queen Riverboat

Just in case you have been thinking about booking yourself onto the Mississippi Queen this summer, I dug up a bit of info that might help you decide if this works for you!!

” The Mississippi Queen riverboat is modeled after the grand steamboats of the past and is adorned with genuine turn-of-the-century decor. Mississippi Queen cruises traverse the Mississippi River through the Old South and America’s Heartland and along Wilderness rivers. Above the Grand Staircase on the Mississippi Queen, look for the trompe l’oeil ceiling of cherubs cavorting in clouds. The Upper Paddlewheel Lounge on the Mississippi Queen riverboat has Victorian-style couches and overstuffed chairs that make for a comfortable place to relax and view the passing scenery.

On the Observation Deck of the Mississippi Queen riverboat, the Grand Saloon is a gathering place for onboard activities by day, and a showroom and ballroom for entertainment at night, and the Golden Antlers Bar is a lounge with game tables and floor-to-ceiling windows.

On your Mississippi Queen cruise, you can work out in the exercise room, take a dip in the bathing pool, watch a film in the movie theater and catch up on your reading in the library. Staterooms on the Mississippi Queen are named after Civil War battles, river towns and old-fashioned riverboats and many have antique furnishings.”

Okay, there are some things that I do like and some things that I don’t like. I like the fact that you can book for up to 12 days. I need at least that long to unwind and forget that I have another life elsewhere. When I’m on vacation, I don’t want to think about responsibilities… at least to some extent.

But then I realized that the riverboat doesn’t offer internet access, a spa, a hot tub, or a hair dryer. While I might be able to get along with most of those items, the internet access??? I don’t know if I could let that go for a whole 12 days!!
