Miss USA Rachel Smith at Miss Universe 2007 Pageant
Although the Tennessee native Rachel Smith did not win the Miss Universe Pageant, you have to be amazed at her poise last night. These young women train for months and months and the possibilites of a fall has to be on the minds of every one of those women. It brings to mind a pageant that I was in… many moons ago. I was told later by one of the judges, that my third place finish was because I looked down as I descended the staircase. Now I’m glad I did. I’m not sure that I would have been able to pick myself up and continue as Smith did last night.
Congratulations to Miss Japan, of course, and to all the women who participated.

Rachel Smith was pure class! I don’t think many people could have put on such a smile after falling down like she did! Her poise and elegance while the crowd was jeering only added to her charm, and she’s only 22 years old! Americans should be proud at how she represented the US.
