Magnolia Springs State Park

Magnolia State Park

Magnolia Springs State Park is known for its crystal clear springs flowing 7 million gallons of water per day and the beautiful boardwalk which spans the cool water. During warmer months, visitors may watch for alligators, turtles and other wildlife near the springs. A free, freshwater aquarium features native species, and a 28-acre lake with accessible dock are available for fishing and boating. During the Civil War, the site was called Camp Lawton and served as “the world’s largest prison.” Today, little remains of the prison stockade; however, the earthen breastworks which guarded it may still be seen.

Okay, I’m really not the “camping” sort of girl, but this park does sound like it has possibilities! But from what I have read, the park seems to offer something for everyone. Wandering along the boardwalk and watching for alligators would impress most kids… I know that Britt would love something like this. And my husband has always had an interest in things to do with the Civil War, so the history of the park would interest him. And there are also cottages that are available for non-campers like me.

But what really caught my attention were the ghost tours! That sounds so cool! Nothing like scarying the living daylights out of yourself while away from home. I’m so there…magnolia state park trails

Wonderful park with just as nice people who work there. RV camping on a lake with excellent hiking and biking trails
