It’s Happening in the South…Kentuck Festival of the Arts

by Apryl on October 16th, 2008

During this time of the year, there isn’t a weekend where there isn’t an arts festival. And as you may have gathered from the calendar, there are many good ones choose from during the weekend of October 17 - 19.

One not mentioned on the calendar is the Kentuck Festival of the Arts in Northport, Ala. Slated for October 18 - 19 (yes, the same Saturday of Bama’s home game against Ole Miss), this festival includes over 250 artists with their boothafterboothworks for sale. The artists have either been invited or is juried.

In addition to the artists, there’s also craft demonstrations and live music entertainment. An event for the entire family, the Kentuck Festival also has Kentuck for Kids, where children have the opportunity to be as creative as they want to be in their own area. One particular favorite is the Musical Petting Zoo. Arranged by the WorkingwithsandstoneatKentuck2006Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, volunteers not only educate children about the different instruments but also allow them to play them.

And the festival is a great place to grab a bite to eat as well. You’ll find everything from local restaurants to regular fair food.
