How It All Began
I have been sitting here for about a half hour trying to decide what I’m going to do with this blog. For starters, I think that I will look the south through the eyes of a northerner who really didn’t t have a clue that life could be soooo different. Yes, I did a lot of things that you aren’t supposed to do in the south. You can either say that I led a very sheltered life… or just pretty dumb. Suffice to say I hadn’t a clue about life down here. I guess it is like someone coming up to where I live without a coat and pair of boots in January. So, I am going to give you the benefit of my experience… fire ants and all. And that’s just for starters.
But let me start at the beginning. The first time I ventured south was for a Christmas holiday. I couldn’t imagine no snow for Christmas and I have to admit I went kicking and screaming. I expected to hate it, but instead I fell in love with everything around me. Imagine flowers growing in December! That blew me away. And then palm trees strung with Christmas lights. I had never even seen a palm tree and then to see them decorated with fairy lights… It was amazing!
That was about ten years ago and I have no qualms about leaving the snow behind. Just to feel the warm sun on my face… what more could you ask for? Who needs the snow?? We still live in the north, but now we own a house in Port Charlotte, Florida and we head down there every chance we get.
If Britt and I had our way, we would pack up and move tomorrow. We are working on getting her father transferred. Someday…
