Have You Heard…America’s Most Educated Small Towns

usmapcreativecommonsbyhometowninvasiontour Recently, Forbes.com published a top twenty list of sorts highlighting America’s Most Educated Small Towns. To reach their conclusion and rank the small towns, the editorial staff  had their own mathematical formula that involved using data from the U.S. Census 2005-2007 American Community Survey that polled participants (residents) about their education.

As a fellow Southern, I was quite happy to see a handful of small southern towns make the list.

The state of Maryland is home to the three small towns in American, including the one the attain the top spot: North Potomac (#19), Bethesda (# 1) and Potomac (#7), then Virginia had two: Blacksburg (#14) and McLean (#4).

Chapel Hill, N.C. ranked #12 and University Park, Texas broke into the top 10 at #10, followed by Mountain Brook, Ala., at #9.
