Hauntingly Good Time in the South: Ghost of the Galvez (Galveston, Texas)

by Apryl on October 20th, 2008

You can’t keep a good city like Galveston, Texas, down for too long. As Galveston continues to recover from Hurricane Ike, Hotel Galvez is getting hotelgalvestoninto the “spirit” of the month.

Recently reopened on October 15, the 97-year old property is offering a two-night Ghosts of the Galvez package. What makes this package unique is you have the opportunity to search for ghosts with an electromagnetic field detector and infrared thermometer. Of course, you don’t do this alone - a concierge leads the “other-wordly” tour. You’ll find out about the hotel’s many unregistered guests, including the bride-to-be waiting in room 501 for her lost love. In addition, you’ll also receive a copy of Ghosts Along the Texas Coast by Docia Schultz Williams. The package is available through November 1, and can be requested by contacting the hotel at 409/765-7721.

If you can’t do the package, the hotel offers ghost tours Wednesdays -Sundays starting at 5:30 p.m.
