Gone With the Wind - Headed to Florida
I can’t stress enough the need for entertainment on the way down… for me at least. As you have probably guessed, I hate this part of the vacation, while everyone else in the family likes it?? What is there to like about sitting in a car for two days?? So, when we head down again in August, I’m going to take an epic film with me and my laptop. And I can’t think of a better movie to help soak up the atmostphere of the south, than this one!
Gone with the Wind (Four-Disc Collector’s Edition)
Destination of the Day…
The Gamble Plantation
3708 Patten Avenue
Ellenton, Florida
This is one amazing plantation. It has 2 foot wide walls, protecting it from hurricanes in the dreaded hurricane season and the extreme temperatures of the Florida summer.
It was originally a sugar plantation!

There’s a book that’s a sequel to GWTW, called Scarlett by Alexandra Ripley. Written in a very similar style to Margret Mitchells’ original story. It tells what happens to Scarlett in the years following. A Great read.
