Coming to You from Southern Byways
Oh boy, do I have some great surprises in store for you - my dear readers! If there was ever a good time to bookmark this blog in your favorites, it’s now. Don’t wait too long because you might miss something.
Here are four new sections that will begin appearing regularly on Southern Byways beginning in August:
- Doin’ the Town: This section will highlight that towns and cities that make the South, well, the South. Find out where to go and what do not only from the locals, but celebrity locals as well. First destination that will be featured is Oxford, Mississippi, home to Ole Miss and the site for the first 2008 Presidential Debate.
- Going Green in the South: No, this isn’t a veiled reference to kudzu, but about the eco-friendly changes that many places in the region are adopting. This section will take a look at who’s doing what and why you should visit their. The first place to be highlight is 21c Museum Hotel, located in Louisville, Kentucky. All I can say, without giving away too much (and to make sure that you come back to read the post), is this hotel concept is unique in every sense of the word.
- Look What’s Cookin: Go behind the scenes with me as I explore the restaurants of the South. Meet the chef and the staff that makes it all possible. Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle, Georgia is slated to be the restaurant featured in August.
- Peaceful Nights: Learn about the bed and breakfasts and inns and boutique hotels throughout the region. First up, the Inns of Elegance (six inns) in St. Augustine, Florida.
Also in the works is my first-ever contest/giveaway. Happening sometime in September, it will be a sort of end-of-summer/welcome fall type of prize. I’ll keep everyone posted.
