Alabama’s Outdoors in Photos
Words can only describe so much when it comes to explaining a destination. Sometimes there aren’t enough words or the correct ones. Therefore, the best descriptions are found through photos.
The state of Alabama recently held an amateur photo competition not only as a way to encourage participants to get outdoors and enjoy the natural scenery, but also a way to educate Alabamians and visitors to the state’s resources and wild habitats. The winners represent seven categories, including: scenic/pictorial, birds, mammals, reptiles/amphibians/fish, other wildlife, nature-based recreation, and flora.

Photo of the Day – A Christmas Wedding in Alabama
I picked this particular photo for our “Photo of the Day” series, because I got married at Christmas time and it was nothing like this. Alabama’s Dauphin Island- Not Dolphin Island
Dauphin Island was named for the wife of King Louis XIV’s son. Her name was Dauphine of France. The history of the island spans centuries and six flags have been planted on the white sandy beaches of this barrier island just off the coast of Mobile, Alabama. In 1999 Dauphin Island celebrated its Tricentennial.
