I can’t stress enough the need for entertainment on the way down… for me at least. As you have probably guessed, I hate this part of the vacation, while everyone else in the family likes it?? What is there to like about sitting in a car for two days?? So, when we head […]

The Hay House - Georgia

Okay, this is the house that I want. No doubt about it!! There is just something about a staircase that looks like that and I can picture us sipping Mint Julips on the verandah. But, unfortunately, the house isn’t for sale. It was was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1974, so that […]

Most Expensive Homes in the US

And this one just happens to be in the south… Palm Beach, Fla. to be exact.
Just in case you have grown out of your present house… I thought that you might like to know that this one comes with a ballroom, a conservatory, and 475 feet of beach. And I don’t know for sure, but […]

Where I Want to Live…

Famous Neighbours, Florida - January 7th

We have a second home in Florida, but it sure doesn’t look anything like this!

It used to belong to Holk Hogan, but it was put on the market of June 2006 for something like 25 million dollars, so I would expect that the new owners have taken possession by now.

Allandale Mansion, Tennessee

People always ask me if there could be a house that was simply too big? Well hardly. You could give me a house as large as the Allandale mansion and I would find a way to fill the rooms. It wouldn’t be hard at all. Actually, I would have to take a closer look, but […]

Chestnut Lodge Asylum

“Chestnut Lodge is an abandoned insane asylum smack in the heart of Rockville (Montgomery county, 20 miles northwest of Washington, DC; home to highest concentration of Ph.D.’s in the country). It was internationally known (google for “chestnut lodge”), hard wired into the psych community after nearly a century of treating many long-term, profoundly disturbed psych […]

About Southern Comfort

It seems that Southern Comfort is used for a lot more than just drinking these days. While looking for a photo of the whiskey, I found these pecans. According to the literature, they have a dash of Southern Comfort added to the sugary syrup. I wonder what that would taste like??
But I’m getting off […]
