Campfire Pizza

Now I know that I love eating out, but there are a lot of people who love the great outdoors and the camping thing. So, I did a little asking around for the best/easiest camping recipes and this one I particularly like.
You start with pittas for everyone, spaghetti sauce and the topics of your […]

Super Simple Barbecue Sauce - January 9th

1/2 cup catsup
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup terayaki sauce
1/2 tsp ginger

Combine all in a bowl and stir to mix. When sauce is smooth, transfer to a jar and refrigerate. There’s nothing better than homemade barbecue sauce and once you have made it a few times, feel free to add more spices to your […]

Today’s Travel Gadget… the inflatable washing machine

Now is this cool or what? You are stuck in a hotel room or maybe in your camper and you have run out of underwear. And washing it in the sink is a pain in the neck, so to the rescue… your inflatable washing machine. The machine weighs just 2 kg, and when inflated, […]

The Hot Dog Bar

And you thought that a hot dog was a hot dog. Well, you (and I for that matter) would be wrong. In the south, they have their own style of hot dogs with all the trimmings. If you are one of those people who simply add mustard and relish to their hot dogs and maybe […]

In 1999 Dauphin Island celebrated its Tricentennial.
“Dauphin Island […]

The Universal Packing List

Now this is kind of cool. You plug in the time of year you will be traveling, the ages of the people in your family. I tried it with our next holiday which will run from just after Christmas until the middle of January and it came up with a pretty good list.
There will be […]

The First Aid Kit

I don’t know if it’s just me, but if anyone is going to get hurt while camping, it’s going to be me. I will either find a patch of poison ivy, or I will cut myself on something. It is rarely serious, but it is still a good idea to go prepared.

That’s where this comes […]

Beware of Poison Sumac

Just one of many poisonous plants that you will find through out the southern states. If you are familiar with the symptoms of poison ivy, it’s pretty much the same.
“Found throughout the southern states east of the Mississippi River but limited in distribution to very moist areas; bogs, pocosins, wet pine barrens and stream borders.”
And […]

The Smallest BBQ on the Planet

“The smallest and most portable BBQ on the planet. Is this or is this not the most brilliant invention ever invented by someone who goes around inventing things? The Grilliput, with a literary nod to Mr. Swift, is a travel BBQ that fits in your pocket! Aptly named the Grilliput, this ridiculously compact camping grill […]
