Britt’s Tour of the South - Day 6: Doing What in Lemon Bay?

by SP on September 12th, 2006

Lemon Bay Golf Course

Now I’m not a golfer, and I’m quite proud of that, but as I keep saying “When on vacation you have to try new and wonderful things”, so strap on your hard hats and bring your sence of humor, today we’re going golfing.

Lemon Bay is a pure golf course, not a real estate course. The course was designed by Jim Petrides in 1981. Greens, tees and bunker redesign/ renovation was done by Chip Powell in 1997. Buck Creek and Lemon Creek run through the course from the Lemon Bay waterway. We have 3.5 acres of pine-straw ground cover in the large pine-tree areas in the roughs.

After spending the day golfing, I think I’m going food and a very large drink.

Steamers Crab & Ale House just a short drive from Port Charlotte located in Englewood. An impressive selection of beer, and lots of seafood to wash it down with.

The food at Steamers is wonderful. Everything is homemade and not right from the sysco truck and plopped on your plate. Homemade dressings and a great Spinach salad with grilled chicken awesome if you are watching what you are eating.
