Born on a Mountain Top in Tennessee

by SP on May 15th, 2006

Davy Crockett: King of Wild FrontierApparently the song got it wrong. He was not born on a mountaintop, but on the banks of Limestone Creek near Greenville. A replica of his log cabin still stands there todoay. If you are a big fan, it might be fun to check out. It is about three and a half miles off 11-E Highway near Limestone, Tennessee.

I know that obscure as I am, my name is making considerable deal of fuss in the world. I can’t tell why it is, nor in what it is to end. Go where I will, everybody seems anxious to get a peep at me. Davy Crockett

I know’d this was a whapper of a lie, as soon as I heard it.
On hearing reports of his own death in 1816

*My dad would have loved something like this!
