Okay, the mouse got to me. How could anyone resist such a mascot?? The Ashe County Cheese Company was founded in 1930 and has grown in popularity ever since.

“Our viewing room is open year round from 8:30am - 5:00pm Monday thru Saturday at no charge. Our cheese making schedule changes from week to week, but you can check our Cheesemaking Schedule or call ahead and we’ll do our best to tell you when we are making. We usually make cheese 4 - 5 days a week and almost always on Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday. All groups, families and individuals are welcome. Feel free to call us at 1-800-445-1378 and tell us when you want to come.

And for all of you shoppers out there, the gift shop  offers more than 50 varieties of cheese, as well as  gifts, souvenirs, and my favorite… fresh  curd.

*And I just have to mention the fact that there is nothing quite like warm, salty curd. I could eat it all day long. Unfortunately, there is that thing about the salt. But apparently it is a favorite at the store so don’t be surprised if they run out early.
