4 Stars vs 5 Star Accomodations

by SP on November 8th, 2006

The Travel Mom's Ultimate Book of Family Travel: Planning, Surviving, and Enjoying Your Vacation TogetherGet into the habit of checking the star rating for the hotels. What does a four star mean in the country where you will be vacationing? Would upgrading to a five star be worth the extra money? My son just got back from Cuba. They stayed in a five star hotel resort and he couldn’t say enough good things about the hotel. But get this… he was amazed that the hotel maid fashioned their towels into swans for them. And noticing stuff like that just isn’t Jamie. Of all the things to gush about, it was how well the staff took care of them that impressed Jamie the most.

He also mentioned that they had hooked up with another couple who were staying in a four star (which you would expect to be a good hotel) and apparently it didn’t compare to what they were receiving at their five star.

Obviously, it pays to shop around!
