It’s Happening in the South…Natchez, Mississippi Fall Pilgrimage

antebellumhomeinnatchezmsdennis It’s definitely considered to be one of the more prettier destinations in the South. Rich in history, beginning on September 27, over 18 antebellum homes in Natchez, Miss., springroadtripscottpartee will open their doors to the public during the annual fall pilgrimage.

There are six different tours (indicated by colors) highlighting three different homes on different days through October 11. You can tour such homes as the Stone House, noted for its many unique features and touches that include rare antique maps and prints on the walls. Also on tour is the Twin Oaks, where you can see the Chapel, or you can spend time exploring Texada, said to be the oldest brick building in Natchez. It served not only as the Spanish Government House, but also as a tavern and a hotel.

natchezmissisisippihomemikemac29 Once you have concluded your morning or afternoon tour, you can enjoy an evening of entertainment. Good food and gospel music can be found at the Carriage House Restaurant during Amos Polk’s Voices of Hope Spiritual Singers. The 8 p.m. (dinner at 6:45 p.m.) performance is scheduled for Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings throughout the event. “Big River” the Musical taking place at Natchez Little Theatre is based on Mark Twain’s novel. This performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday through October 11.
