From festivals to free things to do, there is always something going on in the region. With so many options, the hardest part is deciding on what to do.

  • Saturday, August 2 is the 39th Annual Funday and Possum Festival in Wausau, Fla. Located about 10 miles south of the I-10 exit in Chipley, the festival takes place at the Possum Palace. Events include arts and crafts festival, live entertainment and possum delicacies. 

 

 

 

  • For men only: Casablanca Inn in St. Augustine is holding a special contest, Keeping the Romance Alive, where they want to you how you keep the flame burning. What’s in it for you? Well, the grand prize is a three-night getaway for Casablanca Inn’s Secret Garden, the property’s little secret. All you need to do is to write 150 words about you keep the romance alive and mail it to the inn no later than November 1, 2008.

 

  • Over 25 hotels/resorts in the Jacksonville, Fla., area are offering special rates/packages good through September 30. Some of the deals include stay with Embassy Suites Jacksonville’s “Suite Tax Rebate” and receive a $40 gas card. There are also various deals/coupons available for the area’s restaurants, activities and  attractions.

 

 

 

  • Who doesn’t enjoy a good lobster? Celebrate this tasty crustacean (with butter) at Lobsterfest in Key West, Fla., August 8-10. The three-day event includes live entertainment, arts and crafts and lots of lobster.
