  • Throughout the summer, EcoMotion Segway Tours is providing “Birding by Segway” trips on Fort George Island. Tour the island preserve in search of the rare Painted Bunting songbird, whose nesting season is on the preserve is mid-April until mid-September.

 

 

  • Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and Lexus are partnering to unveil two “Lexus Hybrid Living Suites” geared for eco-conscious visitors, with the first to launch at The Fairmont San Francisco, followed by The Fairmont Washington, D.C. in conjunction with Earth Day 2008.

    Every aspect of the room has been meticulously planned for the eco-minded traveler, incorporating ideas and products from Lexus Hybrid Living partners. Eco-friendly bath products and organic food in the mini bar are just some of the amenities found in the room. Guests staying in the suites also receive complimentary Lexus LS 600h L (low-emission car). Also include is a Green Guide, as well as an audio podcast that recommends environmentally friendly activities in the destination, including suggested highlights found on the Lexus Hybrid Living website.

  • It’s fun for the whole family at the 27th Annual Toad Suck Daze on May 2-4 in Conway. Events include a carnival, arts & crafts festival, entertainment and more.

Texas

  • Called the largest reenactment in Texas, the Battle of Port Jefferson (Jefferson) is slated for May 2 – 4. On tap for the weekend includes living a history day, tour of homes, a parade and the battle.

  • SunFest, the state’s largest music, art and waterfront festival is slated for April 30 – May 4 in West Palm Beach. The event features rock, rap, blues and everything in between.

Georgia

  • Downtown Athens is the site for the Twilight Criterium and Festival on April 26  -27. This event draws cyclists as well as spectators to the events and the area. Included is a children’s area as well.

  • Get your ham and yams on at Smithfield’s Ham & Yam Festival in Smithfield on May 3-4. Included in the festival is of course, fresh ham biscuits,and much more food. Enjoy live entertainment, a talent show and activities for all ages.

  • Taste a bit of summer at the Hampton Crab and Blues Fest in Hampton on April 26-27. Aside from local seafood, the festival features crab races, arts & crafts booth and children’s activities.

West Virginia

  • Watch as glassblowers create works of art in front of your eyes during Glass Fest, April 25-27 in Weston. Other events include crafts demonstrations, games and music.

Maryland

  • Celebrate Annapolis’ maritime heritage at Charter Fest, May 1-4. Enjoy historical booths detailing this industry as well as demonstrations and the boats themselves.
