The South in Bloom: Flower Trails, Garden Tours and More in Arkansas, Texas and Mississippi

When it’s springtime, the South loves to show off. Whether it’s tours of homes, garden tours, or flower tours, the region opens its doors and gates to the public. Here’s a sampling of what’s happening around the area.

Going to Arkansas

  • The 15th Annual Camden Daffodil Festival is schedule for March 7 and 8. Held in Camden, the festival features garden, historic homes and log cabin tours. Other events include a steak cook-off contest and an arts and crafts show.

  • No doubt about it, the Wye Mountain United Methodist Church is quite proud of their daffodil field. After all, they have been tending to this seven acre area for about 30 years. It is ready to be shown off on March 10-11 and March 17-18 during their festival. The church is about 30 miles northwest of Little Rock.

While in Texas

  • Jasper, Texas is the site for the 20th Annual Azalea Festival on March 15. This event includes touring the trail (about a 30 minute drive) and events that include a petting zoo, entertainment and much more at the courthouse square.

Coming to Mississippi

  • Pike County Azalea Festival in McComb is scheduled for March 24- April 5. The event will include flower shows, home and garden tours and other activities. One special feature is Lighted Azalea Trail, which residents light their yards illuminating their flowers.
