What I didn’t know about Salvador Dali

shameful lifeThis summer I plan to visit his art gallery in St. Petersburg, Florida. I mean to every time we go down to Florida, but stuff just happens to get in the way and it is always put off until the next trip. Well, this summer we are going again and it’s going to be number one on my list of things to do. And part of the reason is the fact that the man is such an interesting character!!

1. Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dali I Domenech was born at 8:45 on the morning of May 11, 1904 in the small agricultural town of Figueres, Spain. That would make him a Taurus (like me) which make him extremely stubbborn! That would probably account for his unusual style. If he liked it, that was all that mattered. Source

2. Salvador was the second son to be born to the Dali family. Unfortunately, nine months before the famous artist was born, the elder Salvador died of gastroenteritis. This lead the family to believe that the second son was the reincarnation of his older brother. Source

dali fragrance3. Dali created several fragrances during the 40s and 50s and some are for sale at the museum. Just check out that bottle. Is that gorgeous or what?? And yes, I plan to buy the most gorgeous bottle I can find.

4. And like about a zillion other people, this painting fascinates me. Can’t wait to see it up close.

And this summer I’m definitely going to come home with some stories for you!
