It Takes a LOT of Planning

It Takes a LOT of Planning

I always seem to arrive on holiday and only then realize that I really should have picked up something before I left. So, with that in mind, I thought that I would post a few things that you just might want to consider.
Sketchers Sneakers from Macy*s
because I think that mine are pretty worn out thanks to last summer on the tennis court. (Daughter’s idea not mine.)
Aerobed Twin All-Nighter
This makes a lot of sense if you are driving. An inflatable mattress takes almost no space in the car and you never know when you are going to need it. …read more

Travel “Gadgets” that I Just Love!!

Travel “Gadgets” that I Just Love!!

Tuck this luxurious DreamSack into your suitcase. It’s like bringing along your own breathable, 100% silk sheets. Blue or Olive.
And you can wash them at home and use your favorite fabric soften to scent them. Yes, that is one thing I hate about hotels. Nothing smells familar and how the room smells is really big on my list of demands.

The Ultimate Makeup Mirror

This has to be one of the “must haves” when it comes to traveling. And it’s not just for women either. I have one of those magnifying mirrors that pulls away from the wall so that you can position it just to your liking and it was supposed to be for me! Well, from the look of all the whiskers in my sink, my husband is obviously shaving on my side of the bathroom, using my magnifying mirror!!
And this particular mirror has even more bells and whistles than the one I have in my bathroom. The mirrors are illuminated …read more

Just What Are Collard Greens??

Just What Are Collard Greens??

“WHAT IS IT? A cousin to cabbage and kale, these leafy greens are a staple in Southern cooking. Originally from Asia, they are available year-round, although their peak season runs during the cool months of winter and early spring.”
To be quite honest, the first time I ever heard of collard greens is when Granny on the Beverly Hillbillies called the family to dinner… announcing that she had just cooked up a mess of collard greens.
And not being a fan of cabbage, I am pretty sure that I won’t be tempted to sample them. Okay, if they are the …read more

Orlando diocese views crying Virgin Mary

Something very strange is happening in Orlando… maybe.
” A representative from the Orlando Catholic Diocese met Wednesday with the proprietor of a business where a Virgin Mary statue apparently cried a tear and said “the phenomenon is an occasion of some spiritual introspection.”
The black tear was just recently noticed at the store and owners said it appears to be coming from inside the statue.
“We started noticing that there was a small gray line every day that kept getting darker and darker,” Castle Designs CEO Les Roberts said.
Of course there are those who say …read more

Back to School Shopping Will Cost Less

Some really good news for parents in Florida. In August, there will a ten day break from taxes . It’s not a done deal quite yet, but if the governor signs off on it, parents will be charged no sales tax on on books, clothes, shoes, wallets, and bags costing $50 or less, and certain other school supplies costing $10 or less. The tax break is from Aug. 4 through Aug. 13 at most Florida stores under the bill.
Now lets just hope that the rest of the southern states follows suit!!

Slavery Apology Founders in Georgia as Other States Sign On

“Slavery apologies being adopted in Southern states are more than a little insulting to state Senator Robert Brown, the highest-ranking black in the Legislature.
Brown says it is demeaning to think an apology would be an appropriate response to what he calls “the most heinous crime” in history.”
So, what do you think of the apologies that are being made? Are they even worth the paper that they are printed on or should we simply look ahead instead of back??Source
