Barefeet and Fire Ants
I have to be honest… I never heard of fire ants until I vacationed in Florida. I was told that you weren’t supposed to go outside in barefeet, but I never realized that sandals in grassy areas wasn’t a good idea either. Before you think that I’m a complete idiot, just remember that I come from up north. We have a house in Florida, but we don’t live there.
So, here’s the area where you are going to find the little critters…

So, if you are considering a visit, I would really suggest bringing along a pair of running shoes. If you disturb them and your feet are exposed, they are going to bite and it hurts! Take it from someone who won’t make the same mistake twice!
