Bananas Foster

Bananas Foster

I have certainly heard of this dessert, but I had no idea that it was invented back in the 50s by Ella Brennan, a chef at the legendary New Orleans restaurant, The Commander’s Palace! The things you can find out with a little digging. Suddenly I’m having cravings!
But if you can’t make it down to one of the fabulous southern restaurants, you could give it a try yourself. Everything you need comes freeze-dried in the bag above. Apparently all you need to follow the directions and add  ice cream!
Not being much of a cook, I think that I could …read more

Haunting Yard Sales

Haunting Yard Sales

It might not be a half bad idea while wandering around the southern states. I was just reading in the paper about a man who spotted a Maxwell House Iced Tea Decanter. He picked it up for a song, brought it home and the souvenir turned out to be worth $600.00!
Who knows, the canisters like the one above, might be worth a lot of money in the future. I doubt that anyone has thought to save one!
I haven’t done any yard sales in a long time. I think this story just gave me the push I need. What has been …read more

2. Rent a house in Florida for the time you will be there. I don’t even want to think about the cost of a hotel per day and then all the meals that would have to be paid for. And …read more
